Summer in Mragowo

Lake District Mrągowo

"The Mrągowo Lakeland is one of the three lake districts located in Warmia and Masuria (Warmińsko-Mazurskie Province). The largest lakes in this area are Czos, Juno, Juksty, Salęt and Wągiel. The most important river in the locality is the Krutynia. The south-eastern part of the commune of Mrągowo lies within the Masurian Landscape Park. Owing to its attractive location among lakes and forests as well as its various tourist attractions, Mrągowo serves as the summer capital of the region. Lovers of leisure activities can come here for canoeing, hiking, cycling, excursions by coach, horse riding, and sunbathing on the clean beaches by the lakes. The town offers many interesting hiking routes, cycle tracks and waterways leading to places such as Kętrzyn, Sorkwity, Reszel, Święta Lipka and the Great Masurian Lakes. A 1999 analysis by the Institute of Research on Market Economy named Mrągowo as the only leader among the towns inhabited by 15,000-40,000 and located in Warmińsko-Mazurskie Province."
